Re: Strangler in the light
Apart from the "why does he hate john ellis so much" mystery, there is one other perpelxing aspect to the book - he descibes having attempted suicide several times, and describes gonig to hang himself in his garage and changing his mind at the last minute. This is described rather flippan...

Re: Strangler in the light
I mean, it’s clearly a must have for any fan but I wouldn’t get too excited!
Again, just my opinion. You might love it.
Song by Song still miles ahead of the pack in terms of the best book on the band for my money.

Re: Strangler in the light
Well I have to say I thought this was a bit rubbish. A few unknown details here and there (especially his family history and early years) but not much in the way of new information. I really like the interview format for books like this but I thought the 'M' structure gave it unnecessary limitations...

Re: New keyboard player
We've jumped to the conclusion (perhaps wrongly) that a chap called Toby who used to be in Rialto is the new keyboardist. He did a fantastic tribute to Dave a year ago and I'm kinda hoping it is him as he's talented and comes across as a decent chap that would do it justice. Jim Cheers Jim that’s a...

Re: New keyboard player
Forgive me for not comprehensively reading the last 50 odd pages of bickering but who’s this Toby H fella then?
I still find it a bit mad I’ve spent over £70 on tickets to see a band that keeps refusing to say who it actually is I’m going to be seeing.
It’s getting a bit absurd now to be honest.

Re: simple minds. UK tour. 2015
"The jagged, alienated aesthetic of its follow up, Empires and Dance, was co-opted by Manic Street Preachers on The Holy Bible. "Empires and Dance and Real to Real Cacophony," sighs Manics singer James Dean Bradfield, "there's no one to touch them." Thought these would be ri...

His book 'Bad Vibes' is hysterically funny. An absolute must read if you like Luke Haines.

New Band - Eagulls
Anyone heard of this group? They're from Leeds I believe, I reckon some people on here might enjoy them. They're quite spiky punk/new wave sounding, and the bass work at times has shades of Burnel.. When I first got their record I was a bit disappointed - it initially sounds a little one paced and s...
