Re: Would you see The Stranglers without JJ?
Controversially as well JJ knows by keeping the Stranglers going he is holding Hugh back as well. I don't expect he thinks that at all - Hugh has said in more than one interview that the money he gets from the Stranglers touring is what helps to pay for him doing what he wants to do. If the Strangl...

Re: Tour Blog
What I find really intersting about the blog is how much logistical and technical planning goes into orgnanising a tour - its incredible! I was surprised to read that they had a "pre-production rehearsal", I don't think that's been mentioned before. Surprised they did it in Stafford, as w...

Re: Tour Blog
I'd still like to see Dave's tour diaries, somehow.theraven1979 wrote: ↑20 Apr 2024, 19:16 I don't think you can slag a blog off can you? It's just some guys opinion. Shame JJ doesn't do one. Id read that.

Re: Tour Epitaph
Baz's tour diary is up on the site now: https://thestranglers.co.uk/bazs-50th-anniversary-tour-diary/ What's the first thing I did? Why I found the clip of Relentless from Manchester of course. Yes it's a bit rough but shit happens. I always find the live vocal on Relentless a bit iffy - the versio...

Re: Embellishments and deviations
As they are, essentially, a touring band, JJ has surrounded himself with the ones he gets on with, and rightly so. I prefer to go see Straighten out where one is surrounded by Stranglers fans. What are you surrounded with at a Stranglers gig? Random passers-by who've just come in because it was rai...

Re: Would you see The Stranglers without JJ?
Interesting that half a year after Hugh's departure they already had written at least 5 or 6 new songs. Anybody knows which songs from In The Night album were written before Paul and John had joined the band, if this is the case? Isn't "Heaven or Hell" a John Ellis song, so not that one? ...

Yes, it's on the store and FB: https://thestranglers.co.uk/fifty-years ... order-now/
I'd prefer a CD, really. I want to be able to listen to it.

Really? I think I have that, but it sounds as if I've never played it.twatinblack wrote: ↑12 Apr 2024, 08:25 The Zurich recording was same one used for the Stranglers Live in London CD, which is just confusing.

Re: Songs played live all-time league table
There was that live album "death and night and live" taken from the AS tour wasn't it? Skin Deep is on there and they're clearly using the radio mics cos Hugh says something just before Skin Deep kicks in I think that's the same gig as the "Anomalies" bootleg CD, which lists Ski...

Re: Embellishments and deviations
I don't know what any of that means, but the one thing that stands out for me is right at the very end of "Tank", where Jim doesn't do the drum twiddly bit the same as the original.

Barman: That bloke who played the villain in Skyfall came in here last night and started a fight.
Customer: Javier Bardem?
Barman: No, but he's on a warning.
