Re: Looe Festival
OK here goes then-I've been looking forward to this ever since it was announced, after the sublime Fowey gig in 2010, I was delighted that the Stranglers were coming back to Cornwall, knowing that JJ and Baz had spent some time in Looe a few years ago, I wasn't surprised they'd agreed to come there ...

Re: Looe Festival
in the middle of county bumfuck, why do The Stranglers sign up for these things? Because, thankfully, they think about their fans in places like down here in County Bumfuck (thanks for that) who don't get to see them that often. Plus, having been here before, they like it here. Wouldnt a gig at the ...

Re: 1970's toys/games
I had 'Super Flight Deck'-don't know what exactly made it 'Super' but I recall the Phantom was yellow and not blue. Quite good fun actually although a PIA to set up, and inevitably it broke. I had two 'Johnny Eagle' toy guns-by the same company that made Johnny 7, Topper. Very realistic with actual ...

Re: Sisters of Mercy only uk gig anounced
Last time I saw them was at York Race Course 24th September 1984. I was there! The first and only York festival! Travelled all the way up from Cornwall for that. Not the Sisters' finest hour, they were never really meant to be seen in daylight. I saw them twice prior to that, at Plymouth Top Rank, ...

Re: Ian Dury And the Blockheads
Just been watching it myself. Great stuff. Looking forward to seeing two of the blokes on that stage (Wilko and Norman Watt-Roy on bass) in March on tour with the Stranglers.

Re: Wilko Johnson
Superb stuff, seen him several times-with my second favourite bass player ever, Norman Watt-Roy-what a man! They were due to play down this way, at Penzance, later in the year, but I guess that's gone down the pan as the venue's closing. Shame, not seen them for a while.

Re: Seasick Steve
Do so on a regular basis-superb stuff, but a bit tricky to see 'em live these days.Arthur Streeb-Greebling wrote:Everybody's still raving on about him as if it's summat new, go and listen to Son House, Elmore James etc for fooks sake.

Re: Seasick Steve
Saw him live in Newquay a couple of years ago-genuinely one of the best gigs I've been to in nearly 30 years of gig-going. Also saw him on Jools Holland the other night, really like the new stuff with a drummer-loved 'Never go West'.

Re: The first film that scared the crap out of you...
"Oh Whistle and I'll Come to you my Lad" with Michael Hordern. Often shown around Christmas. When he dreams he's being chased by that flappy thing along the beach. And the frigging terrifying bit when the sheets rise up in a vague human form on the other bed in his hotel room. Well it blo...
