Think these stats are only based on what people have added to Setlist.fm, so lots of older gigs aren’t in there.
If they’d just bin that top 10 for a bit I’d be much more inclined to go and see them again!

Re: Strangler in the light
Agree. Baz leans into it, so it all ends up a bit one note. The thing is, Baz has a thoughtful side to him - the best things he’s written for the band, I would say, are songs like Dutch Moon, Bless You and My Fickle Resolve. Also think Shah’s summary is pretty much bang on. Hugh was replaceable, bec...

Re: Strangler in the light
I think JJ comes across worst out of the pair of them in the book and that's using JJ's account! - The only thing I thought JJ was in the right on was JE alleged money grabbing antics but then we all need to earn money right. Let's be honest the upcoming 50th nostalgia tour with JJ as the ori...

Re: Strangler in the light
Also just finished it and found it a really interesting read. I feel like I know JJ a lot better as a result. Yes, many of the stories have been trotted out before but given the chance to expand on things and be a bit more reflective, rather than just filling the usual promotional puff pieces, I was...

Re: So!..who is going where on the 2024 mini tour?
Tenuous at best. Theres the 02s and some usual haunts in there Jim Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk Sorry - sarcasm doesn’t always translate very well! To be fair there are a couple of bigger ones - Bristol Beacon is a bit bigger than the O2 round the corner, although it’s an all-seated venue. H...

Re: So!..who is going where on the 2024 mini tour?
No more big tours (of medium sized venues). This is a medium sized tour (of bigger venues). Completely different. Do you see? Tenuous at best. Re: Euro Tour - *SET LIST SPOILER*
I remember an interview with JE where he said he was on a wage (‘a pathetic wage’ I think he said), so if that was the case then I can definitely believe that the percentage Hugh made from gigs they played in the 90s could have been higher. JE was never a director of the various companies either - d...

Re: Jim Mac changing the bass drum parts on old songs
It only makes my playlist when I hit shuffle to be fair. Then it turns into a skip. Jim "The Last Men on the Moon" is not a shuffle. Ah, that’s a shame Jim. I got the impression you liked some of Dark Matters but you seem less positive about it now. I think Last Men on the Moon is one of ...

Re: Birmingham
I don’t really want to get into this too much as, in the end, I had a good night out and enjoyed the gig. Either the Stranglers can only be defined as Black/ Burnell/ Cornwell/ Greenfield, in which case it all ended in 1990 and the last 32 years have been various degrees of tribute act (there’s an a...

Re: Birmingham
That was superb. We all know the setlist, so no surprises as such, but it was well put together. Don’t Bring Harry was nicely done, the selection of 77-79 stuff was all the songs the crowd wanted to hear plus a couple of slightly deeper cuts (ok, not that deep, but not played for a while). Most of t...

Birmingham
Gig tonight, first time I’ll have seen the band since 2016, and - most likely - the last time too. Going to be a bittersweet night I think but I’m looking forward to hearing the new songs live, a couple of old ones I haven’t heard quite as often as the others, and a chance to say goodbye. Hope it’s ...
