Re: Cambridge

I went to Cambridge, it was good. I've not been on the forum for a few weeks because I was avoiding all the spoilers. I came back yesterday looking forward to catching up on all the chat about the tour, but it seems to have been killed off and the setlist discussion was locked so that's really grea...

Re: Cambridge

Mine All Mine 100% Paul Roberts written so I don't expect that one - they did it once acoustic with Baz singing on the 2011 convention, was OK I suppose even if Baz struggled with the vocals a bit. Ah yeah, I heard that on the bonus disc with Giants. I was glad that they gave it a go at least, alth...

I love I Don't Agree, it's one of my all-time favourites, but I don't know how it would work without Paul singing it.

Re: Cambridge

Lost Control was the poorest choice from the Norfolk Coast album Someone in the band really must love it, they keep coming back to that one but I also think it is one of the weakest tracks on the Norfolk Coast cd Yes definitely, I suspect it is a "Baz favourite" as it's one of his songs i...

Re: Dark Matters Vinyl

It's miles off topic, but I believe it was Dave that made the initial comment re the Golden Brown solo. Hugh acknowledged it in Song by song iirc Again, who cares ? At least he isn't some kind of robot in black. Very true. Anyway, can't say I'm that interested in this vinyl. I used to collect, but I...

Listen to any MKI live recording and you will hear it.

Great choices, all of those would be great 8)

Re: 50th Anniversary Setlist?

Sure you can blame Jet for some lacklustre drum machine work, but I would argue it's Hugh doing a lot of the "phoning in" as you call it, particularly lyrically (Sweet Smell, Celebrate, possibly Man of the Earth). He was right to resurrect Out of My Mind on his recent tour as I think that...

Re: 50th Anniversary Setlist?

All I'll say is that if you really want to know what Hugh brought to The Stranglers, then listen to the first ten albums and compare with everything after, especially the albums with JJ, Jet and Dave on them. I mean, 'nuff said. It speaks for itself. Mk1 was spent before Hugh left. I get your point...

A bit like if JJ Burnel & Friends released a live album for RSD.

Oh no, hang on...

Re: 50th Anniversary Setlist?

Choosey Susie and Hallow have both been played live multiple times. Choosey by MKII a few times in 1995, Hallow not since the 80s. I can't imagine it being Too Precious. Tomorrow Was is a possibility, but I would have thought they'd have played that in the really early days. I reckon a deep cut from...
