Re: Embellishments and deviations
I love the Ally Pally version of Toiler. Listening now, it becomes apparent that it picks up speed as it goes on. You don't get that by default with drum machines. Maybe perfect time isn't all it's cracked up to be.

What's the first thing I did? Why I found the clip of Relentless from Manchester of course. Yes it's a bit rough but shit happens.droopsnoot wrote: ↑19 Apr 2024, 18:38 Baz's tour diary is up on the site now: https://thestranglers.co.uk/bazs-50th-a ... our-diary/

Re: Would you see The Stranglers without JJ?
Baz could always go back to bass to make room for Hugh. How surreal could things get?

Re: Would you see The Stranglers without JJ?
Haha yes. There is only one small part that is tricky. A couple of bars. As tricky as the Heroes intro. Edit. ah, another bit as well.

Re: Would you see The Stranglers without JJ?
There is always a more negative response to 'what if' than what usually transpires. You only have to go back to when Dave passed and compare it to now to see that.
I've no doubt that a JJ 'disciple' could step in but I don't think it will happen.

Genetix sounds like a struggle to keep the guitar in time.

Re: Tour Epitaph
Was anyone actually playing that little 'ting' sound in the verse of 'Hallow To Our Men'?

Re: Tour Epitaph
I think Baz is being under-appreciated here. He CAN write good songs... just not enough of them.

Re: Tour Epitaph
What any lineup needs is a studio album to help their credentials (they've already proved themselves live). I'm hoping that by revisiting some more interesting material recently it might fuel some similar creativity.

Re: Tour Epitaph
I'd agree as well. It's been a landmark tour in many respects. The deep cuts have completed the jigsaw. From the clips I've seen JJ's bass sound has been spot-on too.
