The Stranglers however have always been on a completely different level for me than that but i can see easily how the levels of following can be different between different fans.

I can think of a few times when a "Heritage"/"Vintage" band name has played near me. I'm not massively into the band and I've no idea what the current lineup is but cos it's a name I've just gone along to see them. This is exactly what happens with a band like "The Stranglers"
