Re: Would you see The Stranglers without JJ?

Baz could always go back to bass to make room for Hugh. How surreal could things get? Well it could be more surreal. Hugh switches to bass Jim Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk Clinging on to the MKI "classic" lineup are any of the brass members still alive? You could bring one o...

Re: Would you see The Stranglers without JJ?

Its like JJ is a badge of the band. Its very much being a Porshe car lover and talk about how great the drive, speed , handling , comfort , the noise it makes and the total thrill of the acceleration whilst making it clear you wouldn't want drive one if it didn't show the badge on the front. That's...

Re: Would you see The Stranglers without JJ?

I think throwing in the Fortnum and Masons hamper has swayed it. We're over 25% in favour now! I can see the poster.... "An evening of The Stranglers with Baz Warne & Friends. Includes meat raffle and hamper" Jim Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk Plenty of Porky Meat I assume. Cant ...

Re: Would you see The Stranglers without JJ?

We are in Doctor Feelgood territory then, and thats not good. I saw them when they supported The Strangs the other year and I thought they were OK but shouldnt call themselves that. If there was no JJB it would be the remaining part of the soul leaving the band. I already think they have passed the ...

Re: Dark Matters has it stood the test of time?

NC is a good album, but the vocals of Paul just isn't The Stranglers for me. It's the same with Baz singing. DM is also good but nowhere outstanding. For a possible new Stranglers album I would prefer a completely JJ written one, recorded with his band mates and with additional inputs from some oth...

Re: The Best of Baz

Spectre Of Love and Relentless are great songs on record and came across really well live though I havent seen them for a few years now so I dont know if they are still in the set. I think Baz gave the band a boot up the arse when he came in, which they needed, and for that I'm grateful whatever peo...

Would agree with that, never happen though unfortunately.

Re: Dark Matters Vs Suite XVI

The vote is closer than I thought. I havent listened to Dark Matters in a while, whereas I play Suite XVI either in part or in full pretty much every week, I think its a far superior record in terms of songwriting and sound.

Re: New Continental Date for October 2022

If I was doing a foreign gig I would probably swerve Luxembourg, I worked there for a very short time and didnt rate the place at all, ferociously expensive for somewhere halfway decent and dodgy in the areas that weren't, which was a big surprise to me, I guess I expected something a bit quaint and...

I've seen Hughie quite a few times over the years, last time at The Brudenell pre lockdowns, always enjoy his shows, and would agree that he seems to enjoy playing his own stuff more.

Re: This current Stranglers is still The Stranglers.

Before this tour I had always said to myself that if JJB or Dave left, I could'nt see how they could continue with the name. I obviously did'nt see Dave leaving us the way he did, so I can see why the band would do a tribute tour, and I can understand why people go for it, and to those that do, good...
