I do agree that fans return to attending gigs after the kids have grown up and the mortgage is paid,not just the Stranglers but any band.But I just can't picture a five piece Stranglers with Paul as the frontman singing all of the songs,pulling in full houses around the UK.Can't be proven one way or...

Fans turned away in droves and the band ended up playing to 500 /700 people at many shows,compared to now.I think that says it all.

From memory they played uptown,no mercy,let me down easy and north winds on the aural sculpture show that I attended in Liverpool.Without googling.Maybe punch and judy was shoe 'horned' in.
