The next winter is the next winter 21st Dec onwards

Also if it's "recording planned" next winter then they are planning a new album from 21st Dec which will probably be released "next winter"

I would say, this winter for this year, and next winter for next year

Strange. I'd say this winter if I was in winter. You say tomatoes etc

lf it wasn't winter yet (like today) l would say,
This winter,
which to me means the winter coming.
This winter coming
might add clarity. Obviously if you were in the midst of winter it would also be referred to as
This winter (as in, "This winter is a fucker, innit? So much for global warming etc")
On the other hand, an event that was occuring in the winter of next year would be referred to as happening
Next winter.
Hope this clarifys things.
