Top 10 Trios

Top 10 Trios
Whilst listening to some very good songs by Brother Junior who supported the Stranglers recently, this got me thinking what my favourite 3 member bands are - genuinely trios with no sneaky back of the stage keyboard players. So here's my top 10 (I have bound to have forgotten some great bands though):
In no particular order -
1.The Police (first 2 albums)
2. The Jimi Hendrix Experience
3. Motorhead
4. Grant Lee Buffalo
5. Cosmic Pyschos (aussie punks)
6. The Icicle Works
7. Steve Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble
8. ZZ Top
9. Love and Rockets
10. Nirvana
Can you do better?

Re: Top 10 Trios
1. Ash (1992-1996, 2007-present lineup)
2. Bis
3. Christian Death (the various Valor, Maitri plus drummer lineups over the last 20-odd years)
4. Cocteau Twins
5. Thompson Twins (1983-86 lineup)
6. Manic Street Preachers (post-Richey)
7. Depeche Mode (Dave, Martin, Fletch lineup)
8. Muse
9. Potty Mouth (2015-2021 lineup)
10. NoMeansNo (1983-1993 lineup)
something like that anyway. It was actually pretty hard for me to find trios I actually like. I tend to like duos or bands with 4 or more band members.

Re: Top 10 Trios
Rush are the ultimate trio. It'd be almost ridiculous coming up with another 9 when Rush would blow them all out of the water.
Re: Top 10 Trios
The Jam weren't a bad trio!

Re: Top 10 Trios
Rush were not only a trio but very anti-expansion even on stage with numerous instruments going on.
At the other end of the scale you have The Police who used the space to make things bigger. Can't beat The Police live around 1980.
