So the thanks to Toby on the album I really don't know what his if any contributions would of been, maybe he had a small hand on some.
But I thought it to be as you have pointed out.
You don't have to play on an album to get 'thanks', often they also thank managers, promoters, family whatever - the decision to ask him to take Dave's place was made when recordings for DM were finished if the timeline in my memory is correct.

Of course you don't ! But it may have been an acknowledgement. Hence the question. Who knows?

Yeah I didn't like to say at the time but Toby's you tube tribute video was also a job application.

I couldn't say it at the time even though it was incredibly obvious he was the guy (to my eyes anyway).

Jim it's the f'ing Cembalet!! THE ONE. Not heard since Black and White. All he needs to do now is buy the new OBX8 and we'll have the synth quality of yesteryear... and I think he will for a new album.

I think I read in an interview somewhere that the youtube video alerted someone (Louie?) and put things in motion. I'm not knocking anyone... sometimes you just know that you are the best person for a certain job.

And Toby WAS from a tribute act... can't remember who now.... ABBA or something (in addition to a short-lived Stranglers tribute in the early 90s).

He did but unless I dreamt it, I'm thinking of someone else.
