New Damned Album 2023

On my 2nd listen. I think it is a good album. Some nice guitar work from Sensible throughout. I like the 60's influenced pop vibe of it as well.

Sounds like modern Damned with touches of the past. I don't think the songwriting or production is what it used to be but the bass is pretty good and 'Bad Weather Girl' motors along with Paul playing like he did on the Hot Rods 'Life On The Line' album.

Still early days. Need a few more listens. Best so far is probably 'Wake The Dead' with its nod to the organ break in Curtain Call.

Yes, a quite good album. I prefer it to Dark Matters, at least at the moment.

It does sound good after repeatedly listening - Surely some of the subject material has been done a few times by them before? "Follow Me" seems to be a modern day Damned trope.

That setup they do so well to cue Sensible's guitar freak out on "Girl I'll Stop At Nothing" is rather wonderful. Even on the first listen you can sense it approaching

Mine finally turned up today.
On a first play through I'm really impressed, it sounds fantastic and I think it's some of their strongest songwriting in a while.
I particularly enjoyed Girl I'll Stop At Nothing and all the Vanian-penned ones especially.
They sound really confident, polished and modern-sounding with it, a surprising contrast with the past couple of albums.
I miss Pinch's songwriting but the new drummer is great and sounds excellent.
I was surprised there was no "Monty song" on this one though, and I didn't hear much of his voice this time either.

Number 7 in the midweek chart, so hopefully another decent-sized "hit" for them.

Pretty solid album isn't it

Love it so far. Best since Grave Disorder and no bad tracks. Vanian upped his songwriting and the mix is great. Captain’s guitars unshackled from Visconti’s neutering is a relief. Modern sounding yet rocking, the Damned seem comfortable in their own skin 47 years on.

Straight in at number 9 on the official chart!
A second top ten album for the Damned out of their last two studio releases. Pretty good going!

Revisiting this today and yeah it's not bad - Some of the songs are slow burners
