Top Ten Tracks post Hugh '90

Post by toilerinblack »

I thought the top 10 tracks post '05 was a very good topic and thought what if it was expanded to the top ten tracks since the big landmark of the ending of Mk1.We've had 31 years since Hugh's departure consisting of 3 vocalists,2 drummers,1 bassist and one keyboard player with a total of 8 studio albums, that's a lot of variety so what what be your top ten post Hugh from In the night to Dark Matters.I found this quite hard but here is mine...
Relentless
Time to die
White Stallion
Norfolk Coast
No Man's Land
Into the Fire
Moon
Freedom
Here
Heaven or Hell

Good selection there, Toiler..

This is a bit tricky but let's go with:

Time to Die
Sugar Bullets
Heaven or Hell
Wet Afternoon
Face
Valley of the Birds
Norfolk Coast
I Don't Agree
Mine All Mine
She's Slipping Away

I'd quite like White Stallion, Still Life, In Heaven She Walks, I've Been Wild, Laughing At The Rain, Southern Mountains, Sinister etc on there but if I was pushed for only ten from the last 30 years then it would probably be the ten evergreen classics above...

Good shout Toiler

Time To Die
Face
In Heaven she Walks
Here
Norfolk Coast
Life's Too Short
In a While
Valley of the birds
Into The Fire
Wet Afternoon

Definitely not Relentless (sooooo overrated). Tbh I found it difficult to pick 10. 7 seems easy but the last 3 was a struggle.

That's the problem i found there are so many good ones that it is hard to narrow it down to ten.

WiR is my fave post 1990 album. I do appreciate I'm in the minority but lots of love for that album from me. If it was produced better with JJs bass higher in the mix (he's playing some wonderful bass but you have to pick it out) I reckon it would be the preferred album from the majority.

I agree too and i love the the albums production and even though i was never a huge MK11 fan post Hugh and like you say WIR has always taken a hammering but i like alot of the tracks on this underated album where paul does shine for me in these style of songs on this album that really does suit his voice very well and Here is one track that is truely superb. To be honest there are some tracks that nobody could do it better than Paul Tuckers Grave comes straight to my head his vocals are simply brilliant on that track.

She Gave It All
And the Boat Sails By
In a While
Joy de Viva
Jump Over My Shadow
In the End
Mine All Mine

I'm really surprised I couldn't find room for anything from Suite XVI, yet here we are. Nothing from Giants or the new one stood a chance.

Are there many who feel the post Hugh material is better that the stranglers recorded and live 1974-1990?
