I went, but only on the Friday, mainly for The Stranglers of course but Big Country were good to, as were one or two of the prog bands earlier in the day. Looking back I wish I'd done the whole weekend, as long as I could have found somewhere decent to stay.

Re: Reading Festival 1983
Great post Hammersmith. I was at that gig. Travelled from Inverness which is over 500 miles from Reading with 4 mates. I can just remember a Welsh group called Man and Hanoi Rocks playing during the day. What stuck out for me on the night was Big Country. First time I had seen them play live and to be honest I thought they blew The Stranglers off the stage. I spoke to Stuart Adamson about this gig years ago and he told me the stage nearly went on fire due to the pyrotechnics going wrong. Didn't need to put a tent up, crashed out in a sleeping bag coz it was that hot. Great memories of a great gig. JJ and Hugh impersonating Status Quo ! Brilliant !!!
We are very excited to be here in A ------me----ri--- ca.

Yes, and weren't Hanoi Rocks rubbish as well? I thought some of the prog bands were pretty good that day - Pallas are one I remember and subsequently bought an album of, Pendragon I remember the name, and Man though I can't remember their music.

What about Steel Pulse?? Was really looking forward to seeing their set but got "plastic bottled" off. Morons.
