Watched this film the other day superb..The songs may be spoofs but in no way silly or insulting in intent. Some of the songs are near the mark and no one involved made a penny due to copyright.

I was listening to The Rutles in the car today and noticed something interesting.
In the song "Cheese and Onions" there are repeated references to Manna Machine in the chorus and the song finishes with the orchestra string section creating a rising crescendo to represent a spaceship taking off.
Sound familiar to anyone? I have the feeling that a certain person may have been listening to The Rutles whilst relaxing at Her Majesty's establishment in Pentonville.

Re: The Rutles
I don't think Hugh had access to a telly in the clink did he?
Neil Innes is one of those vastly underrated musicians because of the nature of his work. The Rutles has some brill stuff in it - music AND comedy - but I remember watching it as a kid and getting a bit bored with it after a while. Having said that, I'll borrow mi brother's box set to watch it all again now - our kid's a massive Beatles fan.

Think I'll go for a stroll in the trees.

Dirk, Nasty, Stig and Barry - I liked this when it was first on, I even went to the trouble of making an audio recording off the TV because we hadn't got a video (not sure they were around then).
