I sort of want to get excited about this band.

I have not heard a sausage but have read some good reviews.

Can any fellow MiB and WiB comment on this lot ?

A bit Mary/Chain from what've heard Paul, nothing extraordinary, but I've not heard much either. Still, at least they're not Simple Minds.

The lead singer used to be a professional footballer.

He was on Soccer AM the other week chatting to the lovels Hels.

Just back from Glasgow, where I bumped into an old school friend I aint seen for yonks, and what CD had she just purchased, after seen them live the other week at the Connect festival?
That's right- Glasvegas

An aftershock from the LHC I fear.

She also reported that Sigur Ros were awesome, playing in a lovely pinky fluffy cloudy night sky, and that Griderman rocked a bit too much for her liking.

Geraldine looks like C/G/F if you fancy dragging the acoustic into the garden tonight Paul.

Got the Cd yesterday. First impressions are Jesus and Mary Chain meets Arcade Fire, but I haven't listened to it enough.

Delighted at Elbow winning the Mercury, BTW. Class act.

Good Evening and thank you for all of that guys. 8)

I didn't know they liked wearing black. I promise !! :o

I think they have announced a gig at the SBE in London which clashes with The Stranglers in Glasgow. I might be wrong on that but anyway, they look like they will be around for a while.

Thank you for your feedback. ;-)

Spot on Grayo...they are the real deal.

Like Paul I had heard a lot of good things and because I love the Mary Chain and that was an oft-repeated comparrison I knew I had to listen. So I bought the album on Saturday and haven't stopped playing it since. It is IMMENSE and they are the first new band that have knocked me off my perch since I discovered The Arcade Fire.

It is basically walls of rocking sound (aka Mary Chain meets Phil Spector) overlaid with some of the most achingly warm pop melodies you will ever hear. And to top it off they have an amazing Scots singer who sings in such a strong, uncompromisingly authentic and almost inpenetrable accent that it makes The Proclaimers sound like they come from Surrey.

Man this stuff is good. Try it Paul old mate.
