Bands where a 'best of' is all you need
The bands you just can't take to thread got me thinking that there are quite a few bands that I don't dislike and sometimes even admire, but a 'best of' or 'greatest hits' album is all I need from them!
I'll get the ball rolling...
Muse
U2
Kaiser Chiefs
Queen
Radiohead
Suede
Echo and the Bunnymen
That will do for starters...

Re: Bands where a 'best of' is all you need
This is just "bands that you just can't take to" part two, isn't it?
Nevertheless, there are some bands that were better at singles than at albums and Madness and The Police are pretty decent shouts.
Depeche Mode is an utterly terrible shout for a couple of reasons. The versions of the tracks they released as singles are a lot of the time nowhere near as good as the album versions, and albums like Black Celebration, Music for the Masses and Violator are utterly essential.
Muse, Queen, Radiohead and Suede... come on, these are all very much album bands, even if Queen's Greatest Hits is their best selling album.
One act that I can think of immediately that got plenty of arse-licking and critical blow jobs, YET somehow managed to end up in the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame (one of those American institutions I've always thought it was an utter joke, just even the thought of it) despite not releasing a single album (and they released many) deemed in any way to be a classic (yet one fairly decent Greatest Hits compilation) is... Eurythmics.

This could be a very long list indeed .
All quiet ..........

Beautiful South, hate to say it but probably The Fall if it can be stretched to a double, Cave's catalogue is far too rich and varied for the Greatest Hits treatment. Oh yeah and The Monkees,
I'll even let you drive my motorbike . . .
Re: Bands where a 'best of' is all you need
The monkees is a shocking inclusion.
