Graduation etiquette
There's some old people on this forum, who would have seen their sons and daughters going through the gap and gown business, so thought i'd ask about the dress code. Is it ok to wear jeans and t-shirt, as im not a suit man. My boy doesn't give a shit.
Rugby Union is not only the greatest team sport in the world on the field, but without a shadow of a doubt, is the greatest team sport in the world off the field. Nigel Owens.
Re: Graduation etiquette
I'm sure some establishments have a dress code (after all some even dictate what students can wear when attending exams) but I don't think many. Hubby wore shorts under his gown. Nobody's really looking at the parents. If you're not embarrassing the offspring then wear what you want. There are enough eccentrics in academia, pretend you are one of them.
No one can win against kipple.

Just remember you will be in professional photos!
Hubby wore casual trousers and a shirt but no tie at our daughters graduation
But its your sons day!
Just check in the pack he will have been given that the venue or uni doesn't have a dress code

I'd feel ok about it. I hate suits and the bullshit of dress code in any situation. My son really doesn't care - he just wants a lift there, lol. It really wont bother himlaurie wrote:Would you feel ok if you were only one in a tshirt
