Best music film you have seen

Post by Alexinblack »

Control, the film on Joy Division an excellent film really enjoyed watching that. Not really sure what to make of 24 hour party people it was quite funny at times. Also I thought the Filth and the Fury and Joe Strummer the future is unwritten are both really good film/ docs too.

Whats your.

"Slade in Flame" was a favourite of mine and the soundtrack is one I still listen to.

Not a popular choice but...Great Rock & Roll Swindle.

Really liked that Strummer film of one of his last tours: Let's Rock Again.

Dig!

Amazing doc about the Brian Jonestown Massacre and the Dandy Warhols... incredible true story and filmed as it happened... about two best friends in a band who split.. one becomes a multi-millionaire, the other plods along in relative obscurity....

ANOTHER STATE OF MIND, an early punk doc of altruistic Cal. punks Youth Brigade, with then-unknowns Social Distortion in tow, embarking on an underfunded tour to spread punk gospel. Details are divided evenly between good intentions and fakery. ( I'll never forget a scene where affluent, self-styled punks sail into daddy's backyard pool to practice mosh diving.) Bandmates of SD"s Mike Ness walk out in disgust due his perpetual inebriation. When quizzed about it, he calmly replies that he always remembers the tunes no nmatter how drunk he gets (shades of Mark E Smith).

It all implodes when their sorry tourbus breaks down in a busy D.C. intersection. Goodguys Minor Threat give them shelter. They return home even more impoverished but hopefully wiser.

Crucial viewing for ANY artist who thinks they'll make it just because a few have.
