Albums to Avoid
Real Life by Simple Minds. I bought this recently on Amazon for a few pence plus postage. Im not a huge fan but I like quite a lot of their stuff. This album however certainly sounds pretty weak for them. Play something like Written in Red against this and I'm sure you will then appreciate that even the weaker Stranglers albums really aren't that bad at all against some other bands albums. I've only played Real Life a few times in the car but I certainly am struggling with it. Anyway I just wondered if you have any other albums you would recommend avoiding or at least were very disappointed with?

"Lulu" from start to finish its dreadful
"Invaders must die" by the prodigy is quite bad
"Postcards from a youngman" is poor from the manics and "Lifeblood" oh and "send away the tigers"

With the exception of 'Lulu', none of those albums are poor - at their worst they're just average, or in the case of 'Lifeblood', different from what is usually expected of the band... and I like 'Send Away The Tigers' a lot, just for the record.pigeon wrote:"Lulu" from start to finish its dreadful

"Introducing Sparks" by Sparks.
"I woke up on a good day, and the world was wonderful"
Re: Albums to Avoid
Sex Pistols - Every album except 'Bollocks'. The rest are just 'flogging a dead horse' almost literally.
Steve Hillage - Rainbow Dome Musick
2 sides of wanky hippie ambience with the sound of running water that just makes you want to go for a piss.
Lou Reed - Metal Machine Music.
Either 'a joke' that wasn't funny or a grudging fulfillment of a contractual obligation at the expense of his fan's headaches.
David Bowie - Never Let Me Down.
A complete let down.
...and everything The Rolling Stones have done since the 80's.

What? 'Metal Machine Music' is ace! You've just gotta listen to it with an open mind and with the understanding that it's not a typical Lou Reed album. With you on 'Never Let Me Down', though, although I think 'Tonight' is probably worse... the drop off in quality between 'Let's Dance' and 'Tonight' is incredible, given the man's form up to that point!

Re: Albums to Avoid
Greg Lake's cheesy grin on the album sleeve never fails to make me chuckle, just because its "heyyy ladies!" approach is pretty jarring coming from the band that sang 'Karn Evil 9'...aldinblack wrote:good god was that really cool in those days, jeez...MiB81 wrote:The fuckin cover should have been a right give awayStanInBlack wrote:Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Love Beach

Controversial, but how about this one?
