From exiting Piccadilly Rail station walk down to Piccadilly Gardens - Piccadilly Bus Station. Get the 111 bus which is nearest to your approach from the rail station. Don't sit down as it not far from the city center - just ask the driver to let you know whan to get off at the Academy/Students Union/Jabez Cleggs. Jabez Cleggs is slightly opposite to the venue.
