Jimmy Savile

Post by unbroken69 »

Looks like there will be one less competitor in this years London marathon.

Any memories of the very eccentric Jmmy Savile who has just died aged 84.

Sad news, he was a great character.

It's spelt Savile with one L, that always struck me as odd. I'm not sure whether I liked him or thought him a crank, but there's no disputing he raised a fecking fortune for various charities over the years. Was he eccentric but a good chap, or weird and 'dodgy'?
Think I'll go for a stroll in the trees.

I wish people would stop doing Jimmy Savile jokes. That means you, and you and you.

if memory serves (it was 33 years ago) he introduced Walk On By in 1978 or rather said "now then, now then that was The Stranglers etc" after they had opened the show

Never actually introduced them live but did introduce a video, repeat performance and was in the studio for the Golden Brown performance in the 2nd Christmas show in December 1982.

Go Buddy Go (Repeat Perfomance) - 23/06/1977
Straighten Out (Video) - 04/08/1977
Golden Brown (He was one of four presenters and was in the studio when they performed) - 30/12/1982

RIP Jimmy Savile :(

It was Noel Edmonds that introduced the 'Walk On By' studio performance.
