The man was a giant.
You respected him, wherever he was.

My wife's really upset (former Tractor Girl season ticket holder).

For me his finest time was the World Cup In Italy in 1990.
That whole campaign brought the country out in love with the game.

We went to Luton airport to pay respect to that Team when they came home.
........and 100,000 others, but we were at the front

Extremely sad news. An absolute gentleman of the game who never had a bad word for anyone.
Newcastle United treated him abysmally. FA Cup and Uefa Cup Semi finalists, 3rd in the Premiership...and sacked. One of the reasons I gave up a fifteen year season ticket. Look at them now.
I have read and can thoroughly recommend Sir Bobbys 'World Cup Diaries' of 1982 and 1990. His enthusiasm and love for the game jumps out of the pages...his sadness at losing the World Cup Semi Final of 1990 never really left him.
One of my favourite quotes of his, after that S/F was "You cant say we should have beaten Argentina. And you cant say we would have beaten the Germans in the Final - but my house would have been on it"
RIP Sir Bobby. No one loved his football more.

This is very sad news indeed, a true footballing legend has been lost.

Thanks for the memories Sir Bobby, the 1990 world cup campaign gave us great nights and for a little while your team gave us the belief that we were actually going to win it.

RIP

He was guest of honour at Stamford Bridge a couple of years back - Champions League match against Liverfool. Massive respect from all supporters. He will be sadly missed.
Blind acceptance is a sign - of stupid fools who stand in line.
