Aye, and give away our Enigma machine too while you're at it, Mr. LeCarre

first gig

Post by punkr »

Everyone has some awesome first shows.
Mine was a free show in London April 1978 with the Clash/TRB/X Ray Spex/Steel Pulse.
I keep EVERYTHING and still have the program from the day.
The Clash were my band to follow after that show and caught about 20 more shows before leaving England in Nov. 1980.
Great times....

Bloody hell, think you win as far as best 1 gigs go!!!

Mine was the UK Subs at a pub in Acton in October 1978. Saw the same line up at the Astoria just before Xmas. A bit weird considering the time that has lapsed between the two but was still a cracking gig.

Yes, the Stranglers did play Bingley Hall the year before, this was my first gig, supported by Steel Pulse, my next gig was Battersea, I was deeply affected.

Bingley Hall is still there and used as a cattle market and for two classic motorbike shows each year which I go to, think it was called New Bingley Hall back then.

Happy days

Dude, UK Subs in 1978 would have been awesome. I didnt catch them until the summer of 1979, i think it was the live show from the Lyceum that the free 4 track e.p. that was added on to the Crash Course l.p. came from.

Funnily enough, just a week ago, i got a couple of UK Subs 7" sleeves signed by all original classic line up that Nicky Garrett mailed to me.
I would have loved to have seen that 2007 show.
