Stranglers tribute album
Over the years i`ve seen a few CDs knocking around which contain lots of different bands doing covers of one particular bands songs (e.g. loads of crap metal bands no-ones heard of murdering Alice Cooper songs).
If an album like this were to be produced for The Stranglers (although i suspect one has already!) and you were able to choose which bands were doing the covers, which bands do you think would do a good or interesting version, and of which tracks? And would it be best to do a greatest hits or to take one album and have everyone cover one track off of it?

No dreams go in, no dreams go out, of the hole in his wrinkled head.

I like a good cover, as long as it isn't just a straight copy of the original, then yer just wasting your time.
My recentish purchases have included,
A string quartet doing Kraftwerk
A dub reggae version of OK Computer
Senor Coconut's Kraftwerk tribute
The 2 Neu.Vague albums....
I joked about this on that Stranglers Night post: a Later....special with
bands doing The Gospel album; The Residents, Radiohead, Chemical Bros, and finaly Kraftwerk doing Hallow To Our Mensch!
Great question, I'll have a think about this....

Funnily enough I mentioned a similar thing to a fellow Stranglers fan at work ( hi Dave !!!) .....what I would like to see , maybe , is the new Stranglers line up do a studio album of various older stuff from over the years , see how different an album from the current band would sound in comparrison to the old originals .

I would like to hear Coldplay drive their car into a tree that would sound fantastic.johnpidgeon wrote:Well, Tori Amos's Strange Little Girl would be there.
But I would like to hear Coldplay do "Don't Bring Harry".

I have that album by Hayseed Dixie, who do blue grass versions of heavy metal classics.
Its a bit tongue in cheek but its surprisingly listenable to.

Don't know if they've done any Stranglers stuff but they have done Holidays In The Sun.

I tried to make him laugh, He didn't get the joke, and then he said I wasn't right in the head.
