GOLDBLADE BORDERLINE CE SOIR
I Will be at the Goldblade gig at the Borderline tonight 16 Manette Street
West End, London W1D 6JB
020 7734 5547
Anyone in town this evening who fancies this (or just a beer) I will be in the Montague Pyke 105-107 Charing Cross Rd around 8pm ish
Just as a bit of info, The Montague Pyke is situated on the site of the now defunct ‘Marquee’ and hosted many bands in this third incarnation from 1988 to 1995 (including a few of my own), now a Wetherspoons Lloyds 1 bar (sigh) it’s a cavernous place (as you would expect) noisy but perfectly situated.
‘Roughly’ what the Marquee website had to say (with a few alterations)
“In 1988, the Marquee club was relocated to 105-107 Charing Cross and during the last years of the 80's the new version of the Marquee club was once again an important meeting point for the British rock scene. The opening night was on the 16th of August 1988 and featured the celebrated hard rock band Kiss. During the new period of the club the decoration changed considerably.
The entrance door of the club was crowned with a classical theatre marquee and the stage would still show the same background with the Marquee logo. At the new venue the club continued represented an important part of the musical history until it's closing in 1995. After the Marquee, the clubs closure the venue became the Moon Under Water (2002) and subsequently the Montague Pyke (2004)

Interesting insight into the last days of the club as it was back September 1994 featuring a band called ‘Trypes’a post punk Greek band who were massive in their home country until they broke up in 1999.

Missed em in Bradford last week apparently, was keen on it (never seen em before) so would you post us a review please when you've chance to?
Is it John Robb as singer and bass? If it is then that's one very good reason to watch them, him being a Stranglers nut and jolly good egg with it :D .
