I'd like to say this here too, in the hope that somehow Steve's family and friends get a chance to read all our heartfelt thoughts on this terrible, sad loss.

I very much regret not asking to buy one of the t-shirts Steve's massive crew were wearing in rememberance of him last night. I'm sure it wouldn't have been a problem if I had only thought to mentioned I'd be proudly wearing it at the Roundhouse gig, in a very small, but heartfelt token of our appreciation of Steve, and our great sense of loss at the sad news.
But he'll be drinking with us on Sunday, I'm sure.
Fly straight mate.

I exchanged a few emails over the years with Steve, and though I never met him, always used to enjoy reading his posts on here. What else can you say, but RIP and condolences to his family.

Tragic news - Was on a high reading all the buzz about the upcoming gigs etc and this has brought me down. Deepest sympathies to his family.

Very sad news. Only really had dealings with Steve over a couple of PM's but I enjoyed reading his forthright and heartfelt comments. He liked Muse too............

Shocking that this should happen at this time when Steve would have been looking forward to these gigs as much as any of us on here.

So sorry to hear about his passing. Didnt actually meet him, but corresponded with him a few times on PM and e-mail, and he was always a decent, friendly guy with a genuine and deep love for music. 39 is no-age to be checking out at.

RIP mate, the world`s a duller place without you.

Very sad news. Enjoyed reading Steve's posts and 39 seems a tragically young age.

I'm deeply saddened by this. Steve Areno was a true fan, would have probably won the golden anorak if we ever got around to it and a real gent.
Always responded with interest and excitement to any emails we traded about MIB minutiae. He was one of the guys I really wanted to meet when I come back to the UK.

Fly straight, mate.

RIP Steve. The only other time I saw the Stranglers in Glasgow was with Gaz Cook on the Norfolk Coast tour - they both died at such a young age.

Our thoughts are with both families.
