Your Favourite 5 Albums by any Artiste?

Post by yellowcakeuf6 »

Not really a poll and not one you could put in 'Stranglers polls' although a Stranglers album may creep into this now and again........
The Top 5 Albums, (for me, mostly on vinyl), that have meant the same to you throughout your life. The ones you can listen to on repeat and still haven't got fed up to the back feckin'teeth with? Have we done this before? Alias :?:

Mine: (subject to change.....)

(Not in any particular order)

Ooooh feck...................

The Stranglers - The Raven
The Tubes - What Do You Want From (Live)
Pink Floyd - The Wall
The Damned - The Black Album
The Cure - Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me

Ones that missed out..........

Elton John - Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy
Rush - Exit Stage Left
The Smiths - Hatful of Hollow
Fischer Z - The Worker
Muse - Showbiz
etc..........

Can't say what my choices would be tomorrow (though I suspect The Raven will remain in the list for a long time yet), but today they look like this...
In no particular order

The Stranglers - The Raven
Rancid - And Out Come The Wolves
Therapy? - Troublegum
Big Country - The Crossing
The Damned - The Black Album

The Stranglers - La Folie
Buzzcocks - Singles Going Steady (yeah cheating maybe?)
Clash - Westway To The World
Damned - Damned But Not Forgotten
Manics - Lifeblood

Maybe scrap Clash and replace with a Magazine album (but should the Manics stay in and the Clash be removed?!). Shit what about the Undertones? and XTC fuck!

Excluding any Stranglers or greatest hits:
  • Magazine: Real Life
    The Damned: The Black Album
Velvet Underground: The Velvet Underground & Nico
    Patti Smith: Horses
    Joy Division: Unknown Pleasures
Plus 'Mentioned in Dispatches' would include:
  • Lou Reed: Berlin
    The Clash: The Clash (UK)
    Elastica: Elastica
    Dr Feelgood: Stupidity
    Bessie Smith:
Then I got tired of counting all of these blessings, and then I just got tired.
