The Shirts

Post by ThruBeingCool »

One for the old gits!

American 'new wave' outfit from the late 70's. Appeared on 'The Old Grey Whistle Test'& 'Revolver'. Not the best looking chick in the world fronting the band but a couple of top tunes etc.

I'm trying to seek out their album 'Tell Me Your Plans' but ebay/amazon searches have got me nowhere so far!

Can anyone put me in the right direction? Does anyone care :?: :?

ebay search

Hello Spoony B - I do recall the name from press ads. Sadly I came up with nothing too! I did what you've already done, and then googled The Shirts. Found some info triv (producer Mike Thorne produced Wire, Soft Cell - and Advision engineer Gary Edwards also engineered WWW, a Stranglers connection) and that that someone has reviewed the album on ebay, so I assume it's been on there in the past - but none on sale at present. All you can do really is add to your favourite searches... I'll keep my eyes and ears open though. Nothing like the fun of the hunt

Appreciate your response Wanderlust....

I'm not sure if they're worthy of attention or not.....

Circa 1978, The Shirts were one of those background bands who you wouldn't call shit but were (possibly) over-shadowed by other acts of the time. And they seemed to crop up here & there media wise.

Recently, I 've been listening to a d/l of a song called 'Laugh & walk Away' and their 'Revolver' performance. All good, which leads me to believe that I should have probably checked 'em out in the first place!

Doh!

(Or maybe not!)

Do you like their new track Baz? sommink about You Know Brooklyn when You're Dead - heard it in the 'search' ..... absolutely horrible!

I recently found a couple of MP3s of The Edge - wow they were great weren't they? Very Stranglers-Damned vibe  I must see if they went onto CD... along with Ska band Headline, another MiB support.
