played a gig

Post by janek »

i've played a gig recently. a support act, but in front of ... 1500 people !! something amazing !! there's been a big screen (height about 18 feet) and great stage monitors !! and for the first time i have the soundboard bootleg of it !!

here's a little part of it :
http://www.sytko.md4.pl/theossis/wff/05 ... 20home.mp3

(you can make the sound better using equalizer, "ride" doesn't sound strong enough)

http://www.sytko.md4.pl/theossis/wff/04 ... 20roku.mp3
(i think the best recorded song, but in polish)

i'll post some pics when i'll get them on my PC

i'm still amazed :)

My regret was that I never played many gigs when I was playing. Did a couple of London clubs, plus gig venues around London, including Greyhound, Standard, Marquee and Astoria.

It's alright doing gigs when you're in the frame of mind for it but when you have to drive and can't drink, and have to lug ya stoopid Hammond CFree into the venue it's crap. Hence the reason why I have now told our bass player that I'm an alcoholic and that my Hammond C3 must go into his Ford Galaxy and I'll give him £15 per gig for the privilage. I play him great toons on his car stereo whilst talking bollox to him all the way thereeeee and all the way back as a bonus.

Before you all shout "how terrible is Organ!!", let me just say this - our bass player is A JEHOVAH'S WITNESS so gives as good as he gets in the 'philosphical chat' stakes. But he puts up with my drunken rambilngs whilst we bomb down the A1 at 3am..... actually, that part was 'rock n roll embellishment' at it's finest because you see, we don't actually bomb anywhere in his Ford Galaxy because, he took too many hallucenagenics in the 60/70's and can only manage to drive at 40mph whilst reciting parrables. And the second from last gig we did he farted and followed through so I had to ride all the way home in his Ford Galaxy with the stench of shit. Spinal Tap never captured that one did they?
If Dave was to use a Hammond L100 for just one more gig I'd die content.

 Aaaaaaargghffff! I got so out of my nut at Club Circa (nicensleazy might recall) and I downed so much cheap white stuff up my hooter (nicensleazy may not recall!) I downed a bucket, yes a bucket of water poured from a tap backstage into this big bucket before we went on. Only problem was, my mouth foamed up to the horror of my band members. The bucket had Ajax claner in it. I could now taste it. It was horrible. The door burst open, a cheer went up in the darkness and there I stood with holding a yellow bucket with 'stuff' all down me. Don't do it...
:o God pays you back. He makes you unfamous, fat, and post shit on forums when everyone else is getting their beauty sleep.

I could have any number of support slots. Honestly. This is not be bragging. Like, the way the industry works, you ring the person who's promoting and say 'we're doing the support, ok?' and that's that.
But I have stage fright. Or mic fright. True story. I am the most obnoxious person you'll ever meet, and not afraid of many things, and I was dancing and singing on the stage since age 4 ... but since about the last 5 or so years, i can't deal with microphones on the stage. A mic anywhere near me makes me clam up. I am not kidding! It is very stressful.

Would love to do this one day but lack of talent makes this a no no. However this didn`t stop Coldplay, Phil Collins etc (not that I want to make that kind of "music") !

thanks :) yep, i'm the singer :) also guitar player and songwriter :) :) :) we play only as a three piece band - quite like hugh's one ... i'll try to post some more songs from the night, but i'd have to work on these tracks a bit with a wave edit program or something like this. we have this gig recorded on 2 cameras - so we'll try to make a live videoclip of that second song (koniec roku)

here are some photos from the night :

it's not that bad !! you know us now ;-)

i'd love to play a gig in Belgium :) if you know any club, promotor, or someone who could set our concert in your country someday it would be fantastic !! i don't know why, but the ones who liked my stuff on these forums were all from benelux :) :) :) we're young band, now we're getting quite well known in our own city (wrocław - not far from border with chech rep. and germany), but we've played only two times in other cities.

we don't play stranglers covers yet - but sometimes on reahearsals we do some ruff versions of golden brown, something better change and baraque bordello. our bass player sometimes immitates jj's introduction to no more heroes and plays it as an introduction to one of our songs.

ah - but we do a cover of sex pistols live - i can post it if you like

(edited the post, here's the link :

http://www.sytko.md4.pl/oi/The%20Ossis% ... (live).mp3

enjoy!! )

we have a lot of songs in english - so playing outside poland wouldn't be a problem for us i guess :) the best is yet to come !!
