Split in 87` I think? Morrissey does his own solo stuff and Johnny Marr guests on various albums. Their drummer had a stint in Buzzcocks in the early 90s but I dunno what he`s up to these days.

yep, morrissey does solo records - the best one is imo vauxhall and i ... johnny marr had a band with bernard summner from new order -> it was called electronic, which was a crossing of marrs music and dance arrangments ... he also had his own band - called johnny marr's healers, and released an album called boomslang. he sings on it (amazingly enough he handles it very good). it's a rockish, quite madchesterish kind of a record. but it's has some smiths' feeling on some songs (down on the corner & something to shout about especially)

good band-the smiths.
some very good songs, if a bit depressing.
good albums:-
hatfull of hollow, the queen is dead, meat is murder, strangeways here we come.

a bit of trivia now.....
the smiths 'played' at Preston Guild Hall on the same night as the stranglers played Manchester Apollo - (many years ago)
Both gigs had sold out and most of our little group had opted for the stranglers.

One of 'us' didn't.
He went to see the smiths.
aparently, they came on stage to rapturous applause and burst into 'the queen is dead' with Morrisey waving a big flag with the album cover on it.
Moments later, someone threw a plastic beer glass onto the stage, which hit Morrisey-who promptly stormed off and the gig was abandoned-there and then.

needless to say, any arguments that were going on betwixt us stranglers fans and smiths fans regarding personalities, fanbases, proffesionalism etc. went our way!
....near the nearside window.....

One of my other favourite bands.

Saw them twice and both times they were superb!

Say what you want about Morrissey but the man's a genius!
