And what you'll find there is that there are none from 1982....

Because their first live show wasn't until 4th October 1982 (supporting Blue Rondo A La Turk), they played 4 songs to 11 people and nobody recorded it....

Their earliest recorded gig was the 3rd on 4th February 1983 at The Hacienda.
It was also filmed and is on YouTube.

There is an unreleased reel to reel 16 track master tape of the Decibel Studio demos from 1982 and the original cassette tape on which Morrissey and Marr recorded 'I Want a Boy For My Birthday' in 1982 in Marr's bedroom. But neither has ever been released in any form, official or bootleg, except for a couple of 30 second clips. It is the 'holy grail' for Smith's collectors and none of them have heard it either.

By the way, really enjoying Johnny Marr's book.

It's written in a straight narrative - nothing fancy and it's all chronological but it really gets his passion over for the music.

Was never a massive fan of The Smiths - later stuff was better when teh production stakes were upped but Marr's two solo albums are top notch!

thanks for the offer. tons of smiths boots between 83-87 out there....was really looking for something from 1982. I've since been informed there's a 5 track boot from Manchester 82 out there somewhere but that's it apparently.
