That 1.30am in the moment thing
Normally at the weekend and after a bit of liquor, you fancy three songs loud in the headphones before hitting the sack.
My three currently are :
Holiday in Cambodia : DKs.
The Raven : The MiB
A Forest : The Cure
One more for the road : Atomic : Blondie
And you ?

Shouldn't you be chillin at 1.30 in the morning? Lights out and a bit of Feline on the headphones surely?

Hands down, it's Gary Numan's DANCE. His best.

Great record... Mick Karn on bass, Roger Taylor on drums, and of course plenty of analogue synth goodness. Think I'll put it on now!zontar wrote:Hands down, it's Gary Numan's DANCE. His best.

Yes, me the last three albums in particular, but still fond of a lot of stuff on the first two.Cells&Plasma wrote:Any Japan fans in Da House??StanInBlack wrote:Great record... I love the first 3...AS, OA and QL. Not a big fan of their Roxy phase to be honest and could never get into Tin Drum. I remember the press hating them in 79 when Quiet Life came out.StanInBlack wrote:Yes, me the last three albums in particular, but still fond of a lot of stuff on the first two.Cells&Plasma wrote:Any Japan fans in Da House??StanInBlack wrote: Great record... Re: That 1.30am in the moment thing
It's amazing how much the band changed grew and changed musically from AS to TD, how quickly they managed to change and how extreme the changes were - the first two albums are so completely apart in style from the last three that they feel like the work of a completely different band entirely to me! 'Gentlemen Take Polaroids' is probably my favourite album by them overall, and the one I find myself listening to the most, but there's a lot of songs on AS and OA that I love a hell of a lot: 'Transmission'. 'The Unconventional', 'Performance', 'Suburban Love', 'Communist China', 'Television' and the title track (from AS), and 'Automatic Gun', '...Rhodesia', 'Deviation' and 'The Tenant' (from OA).Cells&Plasma wrote: I love the first 3...AS, OA and QL. Sylvian's gone down on record as saying that the hates the first Japan album, but weirdly I prefer it to OA. Given the approach that he later took with his vocals, it's quite refreshing to hear him snarling all over that first album.
