Screaming Blue Messiahs - Song of The Day.

A thread that will appeal to one or two.
I'll kick off with:

I Wanna Be a Flintstone - Bedrock Mix.
Thank you very much

I was hoping that WOULDN'T be the first choice but thanks anyway, for the thread, great band, one of the most commercially underrated bands ever imho, if that makes sense. ie they never sold as many records as they deserved, despite critical acclaim.

I will nominate Wild Blue Yonder as I think it was the first track I heard by them.
Think I'll go for a stroll in the trees.

Good choice, one of my faves!

Yes agreed, I was going to say underrated, although they did have a little bubble of success in the eighties in the UK and America.
Also of interest is the indirect link to the MiB!

(Re Flintstone Mix, I Chose that particular number as it came on at the time I was posting. In all fairness, if I were to choose a favourite/top tune then it would be anything from their awesome debut 'Good and Gone'. Criminally, yet to be made available on CD)...

It's fairly obscure and, as mentioned, indirect. SBM evolved from the ashes of Motor Boys Motor...

'Someone To Talk To'.
I don't think they bettered that track. I like all of it but that track tops the lot for me.

I saw them a couple of times in '84 but my favourite memory was when they played our local 'dive', The Rezz in Romford, on 16th January 1985.
Our small club was about half the size of the old Marquee. If you had more than 100 people in it got a bit sweaty. We had nearer 200 in on that night. Saw them again a couple of weeks later at The Marquee supported by 'Turkey Bones & The Wild Dogs' who were also excellent.

Bill Carter (guitar/vocals) now works at the E Street Music shop in Faversham, Kent and the last recordings he did were unreleased demos with Rat Scabies on drums about three or four years ago.

Chris Thompson (bass) and Kenny Harris (drums) most recent recordings and gigs were as 'Horseface' with Chris now on guitar.

And Chris Thompson is also in The Killer B'S who have supported Wilko Johnson.
Listen to 'Walkin' The Bass' on their Soundcloud page. It reminds me of 'Tits'. :)

Nice one Rockula! I also saw them at the Marquee in Wardour St must've been around '84. Awesome...

Cheers for the update on Bill Carter.

Also, Chris and Kenny now working together as 'The Messiahs' https://www.facebook.com/themessiahsuk?fref=ts
