Nice one cheers for sharingPaul wrote:the damned are playing near me on my birthday so I'll probably go, it beats family shit and vol au vents.
quite a good interview with sensible here from my local paper, nice of him to not mention the stranglers but mention the other 2 bands, hardly surprising though. not a bad little read for all that.

Made a last minute decision and went to last night's Damned gig.
Had a great night, spent at the front, where a rather limpwrised moshpit, got livelier and livelier until it became reminiscent of a proper punk gig.
The band are ageing very well, Dave Vanian and the Captain don't look their ages.
A good set, played some songs I didn't know, not being a true aficionado of the group, but also played the hits.
Highlight for most was the encore were the Captain asked the crowd whether they wanted Happy Talk or Smash it tp.
The crowd yelled for Smash it up, obviously, only for the band to start doing Happy talk, but after the first few bars, they really punked it up and had the crowd pogoing like mad which carried on into the next song..... smash it up.
other songs I knew, Alone again or, Eloise and New rose.
viva the Damned, the crowd of mainly 50 somethings was littered with a few fresh faced youngies, who no doubt will have been converted.
