The Fall

Post by Paul »

The Fall are touring again, I only know this because they're playing locally to me and saw an online article. Can't say I've heard any of their stuff, although I've heard of them.
in this article though, it says that their only original member is Mark E Smith. since they formed they have had over SIXTY members in the band and according to this article, Smith once famously said: "If it’s me and your granny on bongos, it’s the Fall."

mmmmm. I may give their gig a miss........

Then you'd be missing out. The guitar/bass/drums combo he's using at the moment is as tight as fuck.
I'll even let you drive my motorbike . . .

I've seen them a couple of times in the past can't say which band members were with him then but they were great. Thanks for posting ill check out the tour dates.

Best quote I saw from mark e smith was, when asked about The Fall & it's history he said "we've never split up. Well I haven't anyway"

might see them then, only heard of them because some of my stranglers loving friends talk of them fondly. they start the tour at Clitheroe grand theatre, a great little venue, think hugh might have played there, it was all seated though last time I went.

I used to see them a lot from late 90s to "Heads Roll" (made a mistake booting Ben Pritchard out IMO) but then he got a load of Yanks in (no offence to our American buddies but this is The Fall - usually pretty Northern!) and I didn't bother seeing them after that - I've heard his recent lineup are pretty good. Might check em out. "Laptop Dog" off their last album ain't too shabby either.

"The Fallen" by Dave Simpson is one fuck of a book as well. He painfully catches up with all (almost) ex Fall members - fascinating read for even non-Fall fans IMO.

There is no band like the fall, you really should go see them!

Simpsons book is a great great read indeed, one of my all time fave music books.
