Best gigs of 2012
Been to four Stranglers gigs, Liverpool, Birminghaml, Manchester and Looe. All four of them were very good
Rebellion was a great festival The Buisness, Last Resort, SLF,The Buzzcocks, UK Subs, Neville Staples were all great, and it was great to see those bands play in front of really big crowds.

Gimp Fist at Rebellion pretty much had me crying - fantastic half hour or so. Neville Staples band were jolly good too.
I've seen The Beat several times this year as well, and it is always a fantastic experience. Swindon, Porth, Gloucester - brilliant, and Cardiff to come on Friday. Such a great, relaxed atmosphere and show every time. By far my 'want to go to see' band.
Also had many good nights watching a local band called 'Johnny Trashed'. Not a Johnny Cash fan myself, but their versions are very good and their internal/crowd banter is very funny. Will probably be watching them this weekend again, and the weekend after as well. Always good to have a local band to follow!

Rugby Union is not only the greatest team sport in the world on the field, but without a shadow of a doubt, is the greatest team sport in the world off the field. Nigel Owens.

1st March 2012 The Stranglers 02 Academy
20th April 2012 Jim Jones Revue Fibbers
4th May 2012 British Sea Power, The Pictish Trail The Haunt
25th May 2012 Buzzcocks Apollo
1st June 2012 The Neat, Twilight Sad, Long Division Festival
16th June 2012 Rezillos Brudenell Social Club
29th June 2012 British Sea Power, The Stranglers, Field Music Hop Farm Festival
3rd August 2012 British Sea Power Ruby Lounge
20th September 2012 Wussy Stereo
21st September 2012 Julian Cope Brudenell Social Club
11th October 2012 Hugh Cornwell Cockpit
8th December 2012 Hugh Cornwell Kames Hotel
Highlights for me really were Hugh @ Lawerence Batley Theatre - Just a nice venue and the gig was great. Big Country again great gig made more special by Mike Peters stood next to me belting out Chance. British Sea Power's club night in Brighton "Krankenhaus" was a good event as was their Northern version "Mankenhaus" in Manchester. However, even with the recent Hugh blinder at Kames there's one gig that stands out for me as I never thought I'd see the day - Buzzcocks @ Manchester with the original 4. Something quite special.
Top year. Hope next year is as good!

Re: Best gigs of 2012
Pretty quiet year for me.
5 Stranglers gigs - Cambridge, Roundhouse, Birmingham, Bristol, Looe. All of them were good. Would probably say The Roundhouse edged it as the best of those, though Looe was fun in the rain.
Inspiral Carpets at Norwich Waterfront was also great, and I still have The Damned at The Roundhouse to look forward to this weekend.
But if I had to pick one as best gig of the year, it's difficult to see past Rancid at Norwich UEA.

Great topic, loved Jim's dip into his file-0-fax
Sadly since the Stranglers back in March I can't remember any other gigs,
there must have been something...

Did you get a refund on the tickets, or was it seen as your fault as you
got the dates mixed up?
Total Bummer.

Re: Best gigs of 2012
Stand out gig for me this year was Stranglers at Leamington Spa. Fantastic venue, absolutely packed, the only slight downer was no Jet, however, I thought Ian Barnard brought a whole new dynamic and Tank at the end of the set was just superb. One of the most enjoyable gigs I've been to in a long long time, great atmosphere on the night.
