Ultravox - Brilliant album

Post by johnpidgeon »

I was a big fan of Ultravox back in my high schools day. Loved the John Foxx version, and the first few Midge Ure albums. I was getting a bit bored with them around "Love's Great Adventure". I really liked the song but when SWarren Cann left, I skipped buying their U-VOX album. I have listened to them on CD in years.
Any bought this album or saw them live?

Wasn't overly impressed. Couple of ok tracks but I thought it lacked energy and was a little bit bland.

I'm afraid I haven't liked any Ultravox releases since the John Foxx days. Just not my 'cup of tea'.

Heard rave reviews about this and I have it in my Spotify "yet to hear" list but each time it comes on I end up skipping it. From the bits I've heard the production sounds good but I think Midge is trying a bit to hard with his vocals in parts

I think the new album is acceptable. I went to see them in Edinburgh 3 years ago (1st gig with the original Ure era line up for 24 years) and thought they were great. I then went to see them at the London Apollo a year later and thought the performance was dreadful. I would agree about the comment on Midge Ure's vocals on the new album but I'd certainly not pay £37 to see them on tour in the UK during Sept/Oct (even though it is the original Ure era line up) that's taking the piss!! :smt013

Exactly!! I was being kind, they are actually £37.75!! with the exception of London where you need to stump up £40.25!! 8)

Thought that it was a question as it was obvious JP hasn't bought it and wondered if anyone on here had!
