Rugby Union is not only the greatest team sport in the world on the field, but without a shadow of a doubt, is the greatest team sport in the world off the field. Nigel Owens.
Re: Anti Pasti Walk The Boards Again
Yeah they were really good all them years ago.Conflict are on. As soon as they finish its over to see Pasti. Happy days.
Re: Anti Pasti Walk The Boards Again
Yes Adrian its good news still see Martin knocking about in Derby--he's a bit of a celeb locally--he made the finals of Britains best dish a few years ago--not the sort of programme you'd expect to see the vocalist of a punk band on!adriana wrote:This could be good.... Re: Anti Pasti Walk The Boards Again
I was a big fan of Anti-Pasti back in the day. Went to see The Damned in Derby July 1980 and they were the support band. Missed Anti-Pasti, also missed their lead singer getting his head kicked in by some skinheads in the bar as well (Nottingham/Derby rivalry!)
Anyhoos!
The record that introduced me to Anti-Pasti was their '4 SORE POINTS' EP. Classic punk and raw as fuck. Follow up single 'Let Them Free' was good as well. Unfortunately their debut LP 'The Last Call' , although having some great songs ('Freedom Row', 'St George Gets His Gun' etc) suffered from piss poor production imho and the band sound rather plodding overall. Should have been a classic.
I continued to buy their records including all the singles and the follow up album 'Caution In The Wind' which were all very hit & miss. Some good ideas and the band really demonstrated that they wanted to develop their music. A bit like The Adverts a few years before, they just didn't have the talent.
Still, deffo up for a revisit if they do a local gig (for local people)

Re: Anti Pasti Walk The Boards Again
Well, I was thinking of 'Cast Of Thousands' which could have been much better if The Adverts were more accomplished musicians, similarly Anti-Pasti struggled with that difficult second album. Didn't mean that they had no talent at all, oh no! Hope I've cleared that one up Adrian.adriana wrote:Oi Mr Spooner! Re: Anti Pasti Walk The Boards Again
I met the guys in Derby in '79 when I was seeing a girl who lived there. Good bunch of lads. But I only saw them play once and that was supporting Splodgenessabounds at what used to be called the Camden 'Music Machine'.
