What next - Pinot Stranglers ?

Post by Alias »

"Hardrock fans looking for an alternative to the traditional Tennessee whiskey can now pick up a bottle of wine without compromising their image as UK’s biggest heavy metal band Motörhead launches a branded red wine – Motörhead Shiraz.
Following a huge success in the Scandinavian market, the wine is now being made available in the UK through wholesaler www.greatwineonline.co.uk from september. The Australian shiraz, has been carefully selected by the hardrock legends and has been described as a wine with a fruity aroma, flavours of vanilla, blackberries, plums, eucalyptus and liquorice, but with soft rounded tannins. Or, as Lemmy Kilmister, lead singer, bass player and founder of the band, puts it:
“My advice is - approach it with caution. I mean, wine is deceptive, anything can happen.”
The wine, which had its world premiere in Sweden in 2010, has enjoyed great success in Scandinavia already due to the band’s huge following and a large hard rock fan base, with over 120,000 bottles having been sold already in this relatively small market.
WÖRLD DOMINATION!Ewen Cameron from Great Wine Online, the UK wholesaler and distributor, comments: “This is rock ‘n roll’s grape number one, and just like Lemmy it can survive just about anything. It was selected together with the band, and we’re certain that hard rock fans in the UK will love it. Wine is perhaps not their traditional drink choice, but this Shiraz has all the attitude to win them over – from the iconic label to the intense taste.”
The initiative for Motörhead Shiraz came from Bevarages Per Minute Sweden who contacted the band with the idea. Grapes Svenska AB was commissioned to produce it.
Motörhead Shiraz 2010 £86.40 for Case of 6 bottles  á 750 ml Broken Back Winery, South Eastern Australia Australia, South Eastern Australiawww.greatwineonline.co.uk "

I had some of that ale that Elbow have put there name to and it tastes just like how the band are - very bland and unnoticeable.

Motörhead also made a Kronenbourg 1664 ad a couple of years ago. People don't buy records anymore, rockers have to find some money one way or another, selling beer, for instance... :smt030

On the MIB vino menu:

Greenfield Gamache: Complex notes contain unusual charcteristics

JJ Chardonnay: Powerful tannins pack a kick

Jet Black Bordeaux: No cellaring required, as strong tannins age it well

Warne White: Offers balance which compliments heavier fare

Roberts Rhone: Unexpected hints of ham lead to a bitter finsh

Cornwell cabernet: contains potentially toxic sulfites
