Thanks Gizz, it's reassuring that it's not just me that didn't understand that! Is there a band called Nuclear Device with a song called The Stranglers with lyrics about a nuclear device?

Btw this is almost an interesting thread except it makes very dull reading.

Getting rid of Stranglers one by one
I thought it said that, but I know people who swear blind they can hear abo's

It's definitely abo's on the demos

But you can have the Stranglers on the Aural Sculpture manifesto

sounds like "abos" to me, but the backing vox is saying "auSTRAlia" in the background, so that's bound to confuse things.

Electrelane - Gabriel
Shamen - Transcendental, Comin On, Space Time, Move Any Mountain, probably some more.
Babylon Zoo - Spaceman
5ive - If Ya Getting Down
Sparks - Sparks In the Dark
The Early Years - Musik Der Fruhen Jahre (does that count? lol)
any track by Craig David, Jason Derulo, Daniel Bedingfield, Akon, etc etc etc.

I bet U2 feature the phrase "you too" somewhere in their lyrics as well lol.

Try The Stranglers 'Ugly' and 'I guess I shouldn't have strangled her to death' and we are almost there.

A couple of more direct ones that seem to have been missed:

Iron Maiden- Iron Maiden

Black Sabbath- Black Sabbath

Conflict- conflict

errr Active Slaughter- Active Slaughter (but not so well known)

Crass also reference themselves n white punks on hope 'They said that we were trash well the name is crass not clash' or something like that

every other Oi Polloi song says 'OI, OI, OI' so that kind of counts, any other's well yeah there's Ian Dury and the Blockheads song 'Blockhead', let's see any other's
'KLF, a-ha a-ha" (KLF 3 AM Eternal), pretty sure The Shamen did summit similar. Been listening to a fair bit of Asian Dub Foundation of late and it seems that they mention their name a lot, something you will notice in hip-hop as well! Right well think that's my lot for now, countless examples I am sure. I think it's fair enough when bands mention their name, why the fuck not. It can be just as interesting when you get one band writing a song dedicated to another, like sadly that Crass song aforementioned was a not so fair tribute to the clash, but thank fuck Motorhead gave us R.A.M.O.N.E.S, and just worth pointing out that Motorhead was of course a Hawkwind song before Lemmy was kicked out for being too much of a speed freak. Oh one last one why not, BAD NEWS- Bad News
