Ha! Bingley Hall, Stafford! About 2 miles from where I live. A mate of mine, a retired copper, told me he was working when The Who played there. It was his duty, in full uniform, the escort Keith Moon from his dressing room to the stage, wait backstage during the concert, and escort him back again. He said when Keith appeared from his dressing room for the start of the concert, he had a bottle of whisky in each hand, pissed as a fart!! Yes, Bingley Hall has played host to some great names, including The Stones, Bob Marley, etc.....
Let me take you to a restuarant that got glass tables, you can watch yourself while you are eating...

Roy Orbison at the New Vic, Belfast...must have been around 1975. Next door neighbours mum and dad were total pissheads and were too drunk to go, so somehow I ended up going instead. A bit sureal...a couple of 11 year olds in amonsgt all these old greasers. I was moderatley impressed...but would rather have seen Gary Glitter!

The Stranglers Oct '79 - Raven Tour - Cardiff Top Rank
Had never been to a gig before, well apart from my parents taking me to see the American a capella group the Whiffenpoofs at the local village hall....
Anyway seeing the Stranglers was life changing. I'd been into them since I first heard NMH, that combination of Cembalet and Hammond, JJ's bass and Hugh's voice etched its way into my teenage brain in the autumn of '77 and to this day invokes the same back of the throat dryness and adrenaline surge.
The gig itself, well that was a disappointment, they played too many new songs, (I was still waiting for my copy of the Raven to arrive at the local WH Smiths) , they played them too fast and extremely loud, sounding nothing like Live X Cert which I'd played constantly for months prior to the gig, and at one point JJ lept into the crowd and thumped someone, all in all a bit of a dull evening
