Oh, What a Perfect Day.

Post by PaulinLondon »

I got home late from the pub last night having met up there with a few of the dads from my son's school. With everyone asleep upstairs, I tiptoed into the living room, put on the headphones and listened to Suite XVI from the wonderful "Unbroken" through to and including the blistering "Relentless".

At 12.30am, I made my way to bed.

At 6am this morning, I woke up, got washed and dressed and went downstairs to have some coffee. As I turned around, cup in hand, I noticed I had left the stereo on with Suite XVI still in the CD player. With the goldfish looking at me, I sat on the chair, removed the headphones and replayed "Relentless" at low volume through the speakers.

At 6.45am, I quietly closed the front door and left for work with a smile on my face.

Spooky

I too left my house this morning at about 6:45. I got into the car, turned the ignition and rather than the radio starting up which is the default mode, on comes Relentless. ( I believe Mrs PeteL had been listening to I Hate You on the school run yesterday evening. )

Bet the hangover's in the post!

I woke up this morning at 6.30 - looked at the weather, realised I wouldn't be working as my job depends upon reasonable weather, phoned up, cancelled my engagements and went back to bed. Woke up at 11am and had a POT FUCKING NOODLE for breaky guys!

Thought this was going to be about The The from the title !

It's a chilly english winter,
And solitude is never easy to maintain,
Except when it rains.
So i hang an empty smile beneath my empty eyes,
And go out for a walk.
The wet morning sun reflects off the paving-stones,
While a little dog barks its head off,
In the distance.
Chorus (x2)
Oh, what a perfect day,
To think about my silly world.
My feet are firmly screwed to the floor.
What is there to fear from such a regular world?
Passing by a cemetery,
I think of all the little hopes and dreams,
That lie lifeless and unfilled beneath the soil.
I see an old man fingering his perishing flesh.
He tells himself he was a good man and did good things.

Amused and confused by life's little ironies,
He swallows his bottle of distilled damnation.

People turn around with unseeing eyes.
They're looking for something that doesn't exist.
The world you once knew is being eaten up by rust.
No-one has time for the past, but still, in god they trust.
The future is now, but it's all going wrong.
Bodies good for nothing, but it's to nothing they belong.
People say prayers and some work hard.
If you give them all your money, they'll give you their hearts.
This town ain't going like a ghost town.
It's going like hell....
Chorus (x5)

Don't mind going to work with a hangover (like today). I'm of the opinion that it is nice to be paid to feel like crap.
