Happened upon a great little shop in Weymouth recently who specialises in vintage toys. I always find myself wandering round the Dinky and Corgi stuff in these places mumbling "had that one, got one of those in the loft somewhere, had that one, fuck me! 2 hundred quid! I had one of those and Stinky Kennet nicked it of me, bastard!"PaulinLondon wrote:I will certainly make a point of checking him out ! I love those little shops. At a similar boutique in Arundel, I once managed to get myself a pristine copy of the Black and White album (see Jem's point above) for next to nothing and a battered but cool looking cigarette box made in the States. Not that I use that anymore because I have since stopped smoking (just).ravenlunatic wrote:Oh good! back to the main subject! If you get back to Mevagissey this time Paul, check out the collectables shop, directly behind the harbour but one street back. Its full of wonderfull stuff, like star wars figures and old band posters etc. The chap who owns it is a bit of a wag and has posted in the front window, letters and comments from idiotic customers. funny as fuck!
Collectables shops are just great. I wouldn't ever buy one of those old Victorian hair brushes or razors though; you don't know where they've been.

The green Thunderbird toy is omnipresent in a lot of these boutiques. The one I bought cost me £4 but I have since seen the same model for £12. Very odd.ravenlunatic wrote:PaulinLondon wrote: Happened upon a great little shop in Weymouth recently who specialises in vintage toys. Went to the Corel Arena in Katana to see the Ottawa Senators vs The New Jersey Devils(Stanley cup winners the previous season) the first time I was across in Canada.
Fantastic atmosphere, very fast game. Highlight was finding out that there really is a guy that plays the "dah dah dah dah da-dah" bit on the organ.
Phil, just noticed the Sens beat the Leafs 7-2.
Have since been through to see the Edinburgh Capitals play a few times.
