It wasn't me Gov, honest!!! I was miles away.

We got a few refugees from this incident, they arrived by chopper during the night.

It's standard procedure out here to evacuate non-essential personnel if anything out of the ordinary happens. Better to be safe than sorry.
They are all going back over this morning as everything is safe on the Tern now.

Just spare a thought for peeps like me and where we work next time your filling your 4x4 up with petrol.

helgy, no it wasn't the RB211s', it was one of the gas compressors that went on fire.

Seemingly there was film from the rescue chopper on the scottish news last night that showed the smoke and flames with the response team cutting about with their fire suits and breathing appartus on.

Back in 2002 I did a Govt Emergency Planning exercise up in Aberdeen. The scenario was that a rig had a ship had banged into one of the rigs, during a gale and the coastguard and RAF etc were evacuating rigs and dealing with casualities and all the press involvement. I was one of the photographers on that gig and was supposed to have been flown out to one to take some action shots while they were drilling (I mean pretending there was an accident, not drilling, drilling)
Ironically there was a force 12 blowing that day and we couldn't go out to play . So we spent most of the day boozing with riggers and coastguards instead. Had a lovely time with them and think they're all top guys out there - especially hearing some of the stories they were telling. Bloody scary!
Mind you, they can't half put it away....
So Toiler - respect to you!

Toiler, glad to hear your okay. Just out of curiosity, are you working on the rig as a diver?

marco, the only diving I do is when I get home.

I don't think they've got dive suits that big anyway, If you'd met me you'd know what I'm on about.

The job I do is a bit more technical than that.
