I have tried and tried and tried to get a piccy under my name but it ain't working. I can't get any picture under 6kb. So the thing to go for seems to be linking to a URL address. Can someone tell me what the hell one of those is and how I find it to type it in?

just type in for instance "hugh cornwell" on google image search, click on one that comes up, go to the "enlarge image" tab, then when the image is on its own copy the URL in your search bar and paste it into the box on your profile.

The site was experiencing techincal difficulties with uploading avatars - Should work now. Failing that try linking to a ulr - that defo works

Same here Jimbo, got a 'nice' pic of Homer, tried resizing to 6kb but would'nt accept it.
Can I email it to you for you to try ???

IT WORKS - thanks for the advice. Found a nice piccy of Hugh (always my fave Strangler). I am now IT literate.
