I hate heavy metal, not keen on Jazz either. Should I start new threads about music I don't appreciate?

I put this thread on because I caught a bit of The One show on Friday night and there was a song I think by Jake Bugg and Tiny Temper and it was kind of half indie half rap. I just thought the rap bit was terrible and I'm sure the crowd did too despite obviously being told to clap. I'm sure there are some decent and clever rap songs but overall I just think it is awful but the music industry/stations seem to push it constantly on us. It's like they don't want to be seen as racist or something by not playing it. Why can't they just admit most of it is shite and stop promoting it constantly on the mainstream media. There's talented people like Hugh Cornwell that get zero exposure and then you get these horrible rap songs getting major media promotion. It's all wrong!

The formula for songs these days seems to be a single catchy line chorus and an interruption in the flow for an obligatory (dreadful) rap section. I have these inflicted on me in the car by the offspring.

There are so many bits of rap inserted that I'm starting to wonder if there's a Mafia type conspiracy to keep rappers in business
No one can win against kipple.

Yes. Kendrick Lamar's 'To Pimp a Butterfly' was one of the most sonically exciting albums of the decade, and a direct inspiration on David Bowie's 'Blackstar' album, proving that the guy had taste right until he passed away and quite possibly well into the afterlife. Given which forum I'm on, the demographic involved and knowing what people on here generally listen to, I knew before I clicked on this thread that it would be basically a whole bunch of old-man-ranting-at-clouds stuff at a genre they don't get, and lo and behold, the thread delivered.

the spooks have a couple of good toons but yeah, I'm with you....rap is shit....do you know what's worse....white people trying to imitate it. Eminem and professor green are the two worst offenders....actually, they may be the only white guys doing rap.
