The hotels nearest O2 ( Holiday Inn Express and Intercontinental I think) are v expensive. If he's traveling by public transport then options are tube (Jubilee line) or bus ( which don't accept cash; have to use a Travelcard, Oystercard or contactless). Depending on what he's doing the next day it might be best to book somewhere like a Travelodge that's near the Jubilee Line route into London. Queue for the tube immediately after gig will be horrendous but I think it's one of the routes that now runs all night so no panic re' missing last one.

The Jubilee Line is a 24 hour service from Friday night through to Sunday night and I believe the gig is on the Saturday so that's good.

I would suggest finding a cheap hotel to the east. The Jubilee Line goes from/to Stratford.

Premier Inn Stratford would be about £90.
But search for Bed & Breakfast hotels and you can find them for £40/£50.
