Donations

Post by Hammersmith1982 »

OK, I've been donated some goodies by a popular beat combo band called The Stranglers (Yes, and the Wurzels)   which I am putting on e bay on Sunday, but I also wanted to have a site where I can ask people for donations (If they don't want to bid etc etc etc) but what's a good site for that sort of thing?

Anyone have any ideas about what they charge etc?

The problem being that my club is not a registered charity as I was told it would be more aggro. than it's worth.

Cheers

From the little I understand, there is a cost/benefit side to registering as a charity. Off the top of my head I think it is something like sixty quid to register with the charities commission (but I could be miles out) and that means donors' donations are topped up with an extra 25% or so. One of the donation websites doesn't take a cut (I think it might be help for heroes) whereas sites like just giving or virgin giving take a percent or two. It's worth doing a bit of shopping around and maybe looking on Martyn Lewis's excellent website - this page for example looks useful

Hope that helps

Thanks guys - Although its more than time I feel I really need to sort the gallery out before I pass round the begging bowl. Good to know there's support :smt026

In the meantime a few quid Nick's way sounds good to me - What do we need to do Nick?

Hi Jim

I'm still waiting for the checks to come through from just giving, so it may be a few days before I do anything.

Probably start selling stuff next weekend and then I'll have the link on my e bay account as well.

But thanks though

Cheers

Hey, I think I've got it sussed!!!

https://www.justgiving.com/yimby/thedor ... re-owner#/

This is our new fundraising page. You may well be wondering why it says that we are raising £250, but yet we need many thousands. It's because we only have 30 days to raise the money at a time, so if we asked for £5,000 and did not raise that within 30 days, it goes back to the people who donated it!!! So, we get nothing, even if we raised £4,999!!

If you are not interested in any of these, can you just add them on your facebook accounts or whatever forums you go on?

Thanks again
